Project based on a territorial research among the area of Cavallino Treporti (Venice, Italy) a rich land full of nature, old typical architecture and traditional folk customs.
I decided to work on the aspect that hit me the most: the exterior face of these towers, remained as a strong memory of the past in the lansdcape of Cavallino.
These military towers were built in the World War I to keep safe the coast along with some batteries of artillery, in spite of that, they weren’t used for this purpose at all because enemies never arrived so close.
Some of them are now empty but the majority has been used as civil houses by families and local farmers.
You’ve just seen the second editing of this work, originally the concept was different, for a university work I developed a project over 4 of these towers which I’ve seen not as war towers but as civil houses, and the next 4 images are my part of the project, which led to an exhibition in Cavallino Treporti during the month of July 2014.
