Since first encountering Joel Sternfeld’s work, I have been captivated by his exploration of landscapes and social fabric. One of his projects that resonated deeply with me is his investigation along New York’s High Line, capturing through imagery this slice of a changing city.
During my stay in New York, intrigued by the actual transformation of this place, I sought to narrate this new interpretation of a symbolic location that, elevated above the city’s surface, reveals what goes unnoticed from street level.
Central to my narrative was the ability to detach from the noise of the streets below, focusing on the new pathway and what lay beyond the layer of vegetation—no longer a result of neglect but of a renewed care to revalue this small corner of the city.
Beyond the High Line, we witness today, as we did 20 years ago, a changing city.
